Simple Features for R
R package implementing the OGC Simple Features standard for spatial data in R.
GPL-2.0-or-later
About
sf is the R implementation of the OGC Simple Features specification. It stores geometries in data frames, adds coordinate reference system handling through PROJ, and exposes spatial predicates, joins and operations backed by GEOS. It is the usual foundation for vector analysis in R, sitting on GDAL for format I/O.
Features
- Stores simple feature geometries in R data frames
- Spatial predicates and operations via GEOS
- Coordinate reference system handling through PROJ
- Reads and writes vector formats through GDAL
- Spatial joins and summaries with dplyr verbs
- Connects directly to PostGIS databases
