xarray-spatial
Raster analysis functions for xarray, JIT-compiled with Numba and scalable with Dask.
MIT
About
xarray-spatial implements common raster analysis operations as functions on xarray DataArrays, including focal and zonal statistics, proximity, terrain derivatives such as slope and curvature, classification, and A* pathfinding. Kernels are JIT-compiled with Numba and scale with Dask, and the library deliberately avoids GDAL and GEOS dependencies to stay inside the Python geospatial stack. It grew out of the Datashader project and targets GIS developers and analysts working with large labeled arrays.
Features
- Focal and zonal raster statistics
- Distance and proximity analysis
- Slope, aspect, and curvature derivatives
- Zonal classification and reclassification
- A* pathfinding across raster grids
- Numba-compiled kernels that scale with Dask
