gdalcubes
R package and C++ library for building and processing Earth observation data cubes.
MIT
About
gdalcubes turns irregular collections of satellite images into regular four-dimensional raster data cubes, hiding differences in map projections, spatial overlaps and resolutions between scenes and spectral bands. Cubes are processed with pixel-wise arithmetic, space and time summaries, filters, user-defined R functions and machine-learning models while only small memory-friendly chunks are read at a time. It is used with Sentinel-2, Sentinel-5P, Landsat, MODIS, PlanetScope and GPM data, and exports cubes as NetCDF or GeoTIFF.
Features
- Regular 4D cubes from image collections
- Pixel arithmetic and vegetation indices
- Space and time summary statistics
- Time series extraction for points and polygons
- Machine learning training data and prediction
- Chunked processing with low memory footprint
- NetCDF and GeoTIFF export
